Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel in Portland, Oregon – Travel Diaries

Went on a random little roadtrip with one of my best friends to Portland Oregon.

I was living off the grid for this one. Well, kind of. I only told three other people I was traveling…Oh, and except for a few snaps on snapchat and a couple of tweets. so maybe not completely off the grid. But you get the picture. 🙂

You know when you just need to hit reset? That was me. I really needed to find somewhere to escape and relax my mind.
And Portland offered just that.

The drive to Portland was a bit rocky with so many twists and turns through the mountains. When we finally arrived to The RiverPlace Hotel it was like hearing angels sing. Such a beautiful and serene sight with all its lights and the water just footsteps away.

Everyone greeted us with such pleasant smiles and welcoming yet relaxed energy.  The young man at Front Desk was extremely helpful and sweet. He checked us in, answered a ton of our questions, and gave us a million tips and suggestions for what to do and what to eat. Thanks P!
The room
The room was handsome, sexy, classy, yet still had a casual vibe. The beds were one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on.  The headboards were tufted leather, reminded me of a library or a fancy office. The decorative throw pillows had a Pendleton vibe which complimented the artsy light fixture in the corner. (Kelly Wearstler-ish? I dunno.)

random: a lot of HGTV may or may not have been watched during our stay.

Bicycles

You know what was so cute about The RiverPlace Hotel? They lend out beach cruisers to all of their guests, on the house. We wanted to make it a point to ride them to our destinations over the next couple of days, but somehow we forgot (I don’t know how!) and ended up walking and sometimes driving. Next time, I will take them up on the bicycles, because you know, pinup life. Portland is extremely bike friendly…and who wouldn’t want to look cute on a beach cruiser?
oh – speaking of friendliness, The hotel is also pet friendly. Would love to bring our little Frenchie, Mabel next time. 🙂 I think she’ll love Portland.

Toiletries and such
Toiletries. The bathroom is stocked with European goodies from ETRO, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, lotion, and soap.

And in case you forgot your contact lens solution, hair spray, razor, or other what-nots, The River Place has your back. What a remarkably sweet touch.

Booze

The booze selection in the room was alluring. Aside from the usual booze in the mini fridge (which was not usual per se, held enticing bottles of craft beer), there was also quite the liquor and wine selection. Whiskey, Bourbon, Vodka…yum.
Happy, happy, joy, joy!
And if you want to leave the room for a drink, the hotel has a hosted wine hour every day downstairs in the lounge/hotel lobby. But you can also do some day drinking or stop in for a night cap at their bar & grill. (Three Degrees).

You know one thing I wondered when I first got there was, “Why did the RiverPlace smell of roses?” – Oh, yeah. Portland is The City of Roses! haha! How sweet!

So my/our stay in at The RiverPlace Hotel is going down in the books as phenomenal. Portland is a delightful and relaxed little city. I didn’t feel rushed or pressured to do anything. The food was incredible. It truly is foodie heaven.
What was definitely admirable and noteworthy was that rarely do you see a person on their phone.
I’ll go back again soon for sure. :)I’m so thankful to my best friend for taking me on this roadtrip. I without a doubt needed this and will cherish this memory forever.

Have you ever been to Portland? Where did you stay? Did you love it? Are you looking for a little getaway? Share your thoughts below. I’m all ears. 😉
xoxo

I love this place. I had an event here back in May last year and I felt like it was a perfect day for us! The venues provides you with an event Specialist as part of your package which is extremely helpful. Plus all of us dressed up only added to the entire ambience.
