December Beauty Picks and Holiday Gift Ideas

It’s mid-December…but if you’re like me, you’re wondering where the hell December went?!
eeeek!

So I’ll get right to it, because we don’t have time to waste, right?!

These are my beauty picks for the month. Who knows, you might like them for yourself, or for stocking stuffers and gifts!

Urban Decay NAKED Illuminated

lit
Urban Decay highlight in Lit – c/o Urban Decay

Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder for Face and Body is a beautiful highlight that comes in three shimmery shades – Luminous, Aura, and Lit. A sweet selection of colors sure to suit every skintone. Highlight is used to accentuate features of your face and/or body – cheeks, collar bone, cupids bow, you know. Although highlight is popular in the summertime for achieving a beachy and healthy glow, it is also essential for some night-time glam in the winter.
I especially love LIT for medium to dark skintones for a warm and golden radiance.

Urban Decay Naked Illuminating Shimmering Powder is shimmery, smooth and silky and comes with a convenient little brush.

COVER FX Custom Infsuion Drops

essential oils
 c/o COVER FX

A few months ago I went to a COVER FX event where they introduced the COVER FX Infusion Drops to myself and a few fellow bloggers. Perfect timing because essential oils are all the rage right now. Typically I don’t think about adding oil to my current beauty products, BUT – COVER FX changed my mind. Their vitamin enriched oils are meant to be mixed with all your beauty products. foundations, face creams, or even to use alone. They come in four fabulous formulas: A+ Jasmine for Anti-aging, C+ Lemongrass for Radiance, E+ Chamomile – with Calming benefits, and F+ Neroli for hydration needs.
I’ve been using them almost daily and even though my skin is oily, no complaints here. My favorites are the Jasmine and Lemongrass. I love incorporating them into my night-time skincare routine so my skin  gets some extra TLC throughout the night.

Availabe at Sephora.com and CoverFX.com

Hello Breath Spray

c/o HELLO Products via Shape Magazine

HELLO Breath Spray prides itself in saying its “naturally friendly.” And of course that’s cute….but, what I find even cuter is the packaging!  It adds a little splash of happiness to my breath and my makeup bag.
HELLO Breath Spray comes in three flavors – Supermint, Mojito Mint, and Grapefruit Mint. Each under four bucks and you can pick them up at Walgreen’s, CVS, and I think even ULTA carries them. 😉

L’OREAL MAKEUP REMOVER WIPES

Are you obsessed with keeping makeup wipes everywhere?  Do you keep them on the bathroom counter, the bedside, and even near the couch? I do! Because I feel that here should never be an excuse to fall asleep with makeup on. Even for those times when I am too tired to wash my face and go through my entire skincare routine, at least a makeup wipe will smack some sense into me!
At the moment, I have been alternating between the L’OREAL IDEAL CLEAN makeup removing towelettes and the L’OREAL REVITALIFT Radiant Smoothing Wet Cleansing Towelettes. The L’OREAL IDEAL CLEAN towelettes are for all skin types and free of alcohol. What I especially like about these is that they are safe to use around the eye area, pretty awesome if you’re a contact lens wearer like moi. 😉 As for the L’OREAL REVITALIFT towelettes, they are my preferred of the two, mostly because I feel like they do a better job at removing my makeup and making my skin feel fresh. The REVITALIFT towelettes contain Vitamin C and exfoliate dead skin cells – so maybe that’s why I feel like my skin feels a bit smoother and cleaner after I use ’em. 😉 I picked them up at Rite-Aid, but I’m sure you can pick them up at your local drugstore, Target, or the like.

STOWAWAY Cosmetics

c/o Stowaway Cosmetics

Well here’s a neat idea, right-sized makeup. STOWAWAY makeup came up with the concept that we should have makeup products that we can use up before they expire. Because, well some of us are guilty of having way to many lipsticks FOREVER. But, also I appreciate the size of these products for traveling. I mean, how cute are these lipsticks and mascaras to gift to your globe-trotter friend? They don’t take up much space because you can just stow them away…haha. 😉
Anyway, you can choose from lipsticks, mascaras, concealers, eyeliners, rouge, and beauty balms. Order them individually, in kits, or check out their subscription service to receive treats at a frequency that is convenient to your lifestyle.

p.s. They’re gluten free.

CIBU Ka Pow Dry Shampoo

c/o CIBU

I’m pretty picky with my dry shampoos. And I’ve tried quite a few…from low end to high end and everything in between. And trust me, they are not all the same.

So with that in mind,  here’s what the CIBU Ka Pow Dry Shampoo does:

  • It refreshes your hair by absorbing oil without leaving that white gunky stuff. (love this!)
  • Increases volume where you want it. (love this!)
  • Adds texture.
  • Extends the life of your blowout.

Oh, also noteworthy is the scent. it’s quite pleasant and not overwhelming. Let me know if you splurge on this guy and how you end up liking it.

Twistband Hair Ties

This goes out to the gals who are ALWAYS losing their hair ties. Twistband.com offers a large selection of hairties and hairpins. They even offer an ethereal crown that I think is pretty.  Twistband sells certain items in sets of three or more, “bundles”, and even a grand “tower.”This makes for a great gift for dancers, athletes, gym-rats…but basically anyone that wants to put their hair up and doesn’t want it creasing. And the packaging is a nice surprise…it’s like, HELLO! – your package has arrived.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

c/o – Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (via The Makeup Show)

Since we’re on a roll, talking about Vegan cosmetics…let’s talk about one of my favorite brands, OCC or Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. They are well-know for their vibrant lip tars, which of course I love. However, I love their creme colour concentrates and foundation and lip brushes as well. The creme colours kick ass because they are smooth and blendable – allowing for application on eyes, cheeks, and lips. You can sheer out the color as you wish or build it up for a bolder look. The finish is demi-matte. The color range, think – blue, gold, white, silver, red, terra cotta brown, and more.
Oh, and all the OCC brushes are custom blended with synthetic fibers, they’re so soft and like everything else – cruelty free.

If you’re running out of time to send a gift, or even pick it up – they have giftcards.

myamor Organic Rejuvenation Eye Gel

myamor eye gel – c/o myamor

myamor is an all natural and organic skincare by Myrka Gallamos. And guess what? It’s vegan! Ok, that makes for three vegan products in this post. Hooray! 🙂
Often times, I enjoy eye products that are cooling, and this one is an eye gel that leaves a cool and soothing sensation around the eye area. It’s too soon for me to see any results, since I’ve only been using it for a few days.
Some of the ingredients include: Rose Hip Oil, Lemon peel extract, Aloe, Green Tea leaf extract, and lavender oil.
So if you’re into eye gels and/or organic skincare, voila!
